He won Oscars for The Usual Suspects (1996) and American Beauty (2000), and starred as Frank Underwood in Netflix’s House of Cards (2013-2017). From 2004 to 2015 he served as Artistic Director of London’s Old Vic Theatre. Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (2015).
